I haven't been to the park, but using my "helicopter" (http://maps.live.com/) to scout the scene, how about meeting here?:

If anybody has been there and has a better choice, I'm all for it.

Or, if you have a better choice not at this park, I'm all ears...

Just throwing out ideas!

Brian

I haven't been to that one, but it seems like most of the state parks around here are fairly passable. It looks like they have 3 group picnic areas. Don't think it's worth trying to rent one, but maybe one will be open.

Any of those dates would work for us.

How would making it an early dinner work for folks, starting around 4 or 4:30? I can promise to bring desert if thats the case. I figure even if we're all extremely witty and charming and having the times of our lives we could still have everyone home by a decent hour.

Garage

I will be at Lake Sammamish State Park at 4:00pm on Sunday June 1 (unless someone talks me out of it).

Witty and charming.... me?

Oh, man... is that something I can learn between now and Sunday... hmmm.... probably not. I'm toast.

Cheers,

I'll be there (my wife won't be able to make it). 4pm this Sunday June 1. I guess it won't be difficult to locate the monster vans.

While I would like to meet witty and charming people, I woun't be able to make June 1.

I'll be at a M's game with my girls little league team.

Have fun, post pics and I'll try to make the next one although the summer gets busy for us PNW people. When the sun shines, you need to make the most of it:-)

ditto, would like to come up but cant this weekend and anyway, wish we could make a run through the forest and/or do some 4-wheeling.

Seriously Velogeo, appreciate the effort to get people together and would still like to do something in the future with some more dirt or camping involved. I liked the Whiskey Dick Area report and would be interested in learning more, possibly finding a way to get a run going over there eventually.

Enjoy the gathering Sunday and please, somebody check and make sure TwoLost is keeping good records inside the van, I'm a little worried about that

Well, I'm glad everyone who's coming is coming, disappointed anyone who isn't isn't. Hopefully next time. If there are any lurkers please feel invited. No R.S.V.P needed.

To make it official we're meeting between 4 and 4:30 at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah this Sunday, June 1st 2008. (I say between 4 and 4:30 because I may be closer to 4:30 due to the school play.)

I don't think we need to get too organized about food, this isn't a Boy Scout outing. A little planning will make things easier, though. I'll bring some Costco dogs and buns, something non-fancy for desert and some beverages to contribute to the cause. If someone could step up to burgers and buns everyone else can just bring whatever strikes their fancy, condiments, chips, side dishes, whatever. First ones there try to grab a good spot, and we're set.

I'm also bringing a pile of maps I just got covering a lot of the public state lands, in case any wants to look.

I have a very tentative plan to bring my daughters and go camping afterward, probably a campground like Lake Easton, then on for a little exploring the next day. They may spend a fair portion of the get together in the van detoxing to a Barbie video. We'll have to see how the play goes before we decide. Thats one nervous 6 year old.
