Yeah, we were doing it last week when it was so hot here. It was obviously even hotter on the other side of the mountains. Not sure I want to think about doing it in August. I know the folks without A/C were suffering between the heat and the dust.

I really did enjoy the place, though. I never realized the WDFW land was a lot like BLM land, that you could pretty much camp where you wanted. After I got back I ordered quad maps of for a number of areas. I'm looking forward t exploring them, especially down Mt. St. Helens.

Velo, this trip looks interesting as I mentioned earlier, and as per your offer on the other thread please do send GPS coordinates. I'd like to map it out.

We're still juggling weekend dates and various kid stuff over next few months but not out of the realm of possibility if we could squeeze this into 2-3 days somewhere. Would be fun to tag-team too, always bettter with at least two vehicles off road.

p.s. hope the Sammamish get together went well

Velogeo, were there any wineries? I mean if you driving to eastern Washington, you have to do some wine tasting at the local vineyards. That's what all the storage in the SMB is for you know.

I just got back from an Oregon trip and stopped in Walla Walla. I will have to post a trip report this week.

Ed -

Yakima Valley is crammed full of good stuff like wineries (and wine growers, hops farms and micro brewers, lamb ranchers, orchards, u-picks, etc. etc.) I guest most of it may not rate where the fancy California and French wines do. I could probably get by happily just drinking locally... wait I do, if you through in Oregon.
