Well, unfortunately as of right now I am out of going to AK this summer. Just too much going on to be gone 2 plus months and I don't want to go for a shorter time.
Have fun.

Life certainly tends to get in the way of some of the fun stuff we want to do. Currently, I've got a lot going on that could derail my summer plans, but as I found with sailing, if you wait until conditions are just perfect (kids out of school, house paid off, save a little more money, more crew etc) you may never go. At some point, you just have to set a deadline and stick to it. I know it's not always possible though, but despite all the reasons I could come up with to not go, I'll just drop everything and do it. Best of luck, perhaps you will be able to make it next year...............

Yep, agree. Thanks.
My situation is unique with my wife being active duty Army in the position she's in. We expect to move again next summer so another summer trip might have to wait. I am going to look at possibly a spring trip.
I'm travelling now for 6 weeks in the east, currently by motorcycle.

On our way......well, sort of. Currently hanging in the Lance trailer 40 miles from home at a diesel mechanic’s lot off I-25 in Johnston, CO.
Cruising on the highway, started hearing a new clunking noise coming from under the dash, let off the gas and went to tap the brakes to slow and get off at the upcoming exit.......rock hard pedal and no brakes! Luckily the trailer brakes grabbed a bit from what little input they had and I downshifted to slow and managed to pull into the Lazydays RV lot only to notice a nice big building across the street that said diesel mechanic, hot sauce jackpot! Turned out to be......yes, the vacuum pump. They have one arriving from Denver tomorrow AM and will hopefully get things wrapped up to get us back on the road by noon. Couldn’t have planned a better spot to break down, at least it wasn’t out in the middle of Canada or AK!! The adventure begins.....[emoji2955]

If you have to breakdown, you scored the jackpot. I have to wonder though, how does the clunking sound and a vacuum pump correlate?

Who's going to Alaska this summer?
Maybe clunking is the wrong descriptive, it was more of a clicking, and as I slowed I noticed it was rotational. The vacuum pump runs off of the drive belt, assuming that when the internals of the pump fail, it makes that noise.

Are Alaska trip took about two short months but also included a one week stop at Yellowstone. This was also just a year before we added the pop top. Sure wish we had it.

Got it. My 7.3L vacuum pump in my Excursion is electrical.
