Yeah, I'm sure we all do it, myself included. It is amazing how the topic can migrate all over, and then sometimes, come full circle.
The heater bypass looks very simple to install, but I'm hesitant to install anything under the hood since it's so cramped. I'd probalby break three things trying to get it installed.
Let's get Mikey to try it (from the Life cereal commercial).

FWIW - I took my van into Ford after this summer's travels with a complaint that the hotter it got out and harder my engine worked, the less cold the A/C blew and the less air flow I got out of the system. They found (apparently to their surprise) that the A/C system was running too cold and icing over thereby not allowing air to get through. They did a repair under warranty, but I haven't really had the opportunity to be in a situation yet to see if it will really be better. Guess I'll find out this summer.
I do like the idea of the heater bypass and will anxiously be awaiting the group's guinea pig's report!

I understand from new owners that Starcool is not an option at SMB anymore.

Errrr, Sorry about that chief. But the question remains, will SMB install the heater valve?

I have the 4D-AGM battery. I was told by the techs at SMBtx that it will run 1-2 hours on the batteries based on the tests they did last fall. That's long enough for us to grab a bite to eat somewhere and not worry about the dogs. I've only run it to make sure it works, but all I hear is the air blowing from the vents and a little bit of a hum from the compressor.

I'm dropping my van off at SMBw on March 17th for them to look at my solar panels and controller, and Peter will take a look at the heater bypass valve to see if they will install it, if I provide it to him. I have the valve ordered.
I'll post after I pickup the van on whether SMBw installed it, and hopefully what a wonderful improvement iin AC performance I have.
