Aluminess Bike Ram Arm Hack(s)

So the backstory is that I intended to make my own box but moved and now don't have access to the sheet metal shop I used to have access to so it was time to pay aluminess their money. I called to buy a box and they said 4 week back order but were gonna see if they could get me one. I panicked when I did not hear back in a couple days and bought this big SKB box that I was gonna bolt to the arm. So I got the SKB box and then the Aluminess shows up at my door anyway. All this is in prep for a 10 day trip to yellowstone area.

So I planned to make a basket kind of thingy for the top of the bike rack arms to carry stuff. So I made it to fit the SKB box if needed. Certainly adds a ton of storage. The box is nice, gasketed, and waterproof. Certainly there are other options for a lot less $$. I would have chose a cheaper option like the plano or whatever but I thought I was just gonna bolt the SKB box on there.

The Aluminess bike arm is good times. They should seriously put some arms up over the spare tire as well for carrying more good. But I guess that tire is heavy enough. Cheers.

Think I need to orient it this way so I can access it from the bumper

Low Budget Aluminess Box Shelf

Cool thing is that the Upper box has more actual volume than the Aluminess box. Next I need a roofrack, among other things.

Garage
Nice job on the "rattle can" box that suits atop the bike rack!
