Aluminess ladder question
Just got my Aluminess ladder in and was looking at the rain gutter mounts. There are NOT lips on the mounts...am I missing something here? Will the top of ladder not just pull off if pulled on in an outward force? I understand that I still have to drill and mount the bottom, but is that enough to hold the ladder on the van (rain gutters)??

Re: Aluminess ladder question
This is the top of my aluminess (sorry don't have a pic from above) the triangles mark small bolts that hold the top in the rain gutter. It seems to hold me rather well, the force is really down more than out, so I'm not sure how much is on those bolts. Actually can't recall if they are actually bolts, but I will say they seemed insubstantial during installation.
On another note I prefer the lower plate to be outside the van body, although the instructions say inside if you can fit it outside it is a little better.

Re: Aluminess ladder question
Thanks jage! Mine did not come with bolts (or holes for bolts, etc.) But it will be simple enough to drill and tap holes for a could of set bolts. That was the info that I was looking for.

Re: Aluminess ladder question
Let me take some more photos. You could probably get new tops from Aluminess, might be easier.

Re: Aluminess ladder question
The tips are flat and they don't go into the gutter metal at all.

Re: Aluminess ladder question
Tim, Those parts should have been drilled and tapped. We can replace them if you want. They should not have been sent to you unfinished. If you do it yourself the hole should be off center towards the open side. 10-32 screws. Let me know if you need anything from us.
