Re: Aluminess swinging rack issue

I just got off the phone with Tim at Aluminess. I have a rear bumper in the production cycle at Aluminess that hopefully will ship this Thursday. Their new bumpers come with a system already included that has the hole and a push lock pin designed to hold the bumper in the open position. There is also a hole somewhere else in the bumper to store the push lock pin.

Tim said they sell a retro fit kit to upgrade the older bumpers. When I mentioned some of the issues of getting a hole drilled into the proper location due to drill clearances he said he would look into the issue.

The folks at Aluminess have always been extremely helpful and patient answering all of my sometimes odd questions. If you are having issues I'd give them a call. Maybe they have a work around that will make the job easier.

Re: Aluminess swinging rack issue

I had Aluminess retrofit my existing bumper with the swing arm stops. They are a bit of a drive from Marin, but maybe the next time you plan to visit the Socal area, you could schedule an appointment. They did other things at the same time, but it didn't look like the process takes more than a couple of hours. Here are pics:

Damn that's pretty slick...

I'm heading down next week actually.
Great pics...that really helps.

I'll be in San Diego, so a trip a little East might just work.
Thanks again for the great shots.
