Re: Another screen door design

I installed that "kitchen box" cabinet in 2000 when we got the van (pre 2006 when penthouse was added). The carpeted top used to be part of the bed. The Formica section was for kitchen use...food prep, etc. Our kitchen is outside at the side door, we do not cook inside (brain set from our tenting days).

This pic shows both the kitchen area and our old screen door. Jo used Velcro as the seal on that one. Undoing it and redoing it as we went in and out was a pain. Zipper would have been faster. Her new "floppie" design works better for my shoulders to fit through then the old one

Top of kitchen box also served as the foot area of day bed on the left in this pic.

The day beds transformed with slats and cover boards into our bed. This whole area was redesigned and rebuilt when we added the penthouse and its bed. The left day bed with its intergual (sp) kithcen box was left in tact in the rebuild.

We use this area only as a bed now when it is too windy to comfortably sleep in the penthouse. This transverse bed is two inches to short for my six foot frame to sleep on and this set up blocks bathroom access.

Todays normal configuration as viewed from kitchen at side door. We find the side door kitchen with the kitchen box very handy.
