I had a larger dent from a trailer jackknife that ended up with progressive totaling the van, because they estimated a proper repair at ~$40k - somewhere along the line it was decided the whole side needed to be replaced!
This was after weeks of investigation by a shop! I accepted the total, got paid out the full value of the van (!!) and had the shop it was at fix it Total ended being around $12.5k to fix the usual way, with bending bondo and paint.
You can do the math and see that this worked out for me, but I lost the van for most of last summer because of it...
https://benchmarkrv.com is the shop I took it to. They did great work, and it's pretty well impossible to tell the side was dented.
