My lift kit (without an LSD) rear has taken me plenty of places. Won't help a ton in sand, but travel with a buddy or stay out of the loose stuff and it should be ok.

Post some after-lift pics for us!
I will reach out again, a real locker is an option
(they did not offer any of that when we communicated, maybe just the person answering or maybe getting away from custom work, which makes good business sense)

Actually using it is much more fun than having a fancy one to look at that requires removing your shoes.

Amen

I have some videos of my daughter giving other kids "Safety and Rule" briefings about the beach and her Camping Car, SnowBall

I'd take it to QuadVan in Portland for sure. They do a lot of Majestics. Seems like most of their E-series business these days are short single-rear-wheel Class Cs, along with VanTerra shuttle buses.

Should quite a bit less than your estimate. That seems about 10k high.

Since QuadVan is QVM-certified, all the parts come with a Ford warranties.

Their Transit back-log is super long, but it seems like they can work in E-series as they come in. Hardest part is getting an initial quote going, because of how busy they are doing Transits.

I'd save the money and skip 4x4. Having had a few motorhomes and having thought long and hard about converting my last one in the end I was happy with lift and tires. I did not do a rear locker on it because it was dual rear wheel and it was fine but I would put a locker in yours if I were you with SRW.

You will really not be able to go to as many SMB/offroad type places as you think due to height, width and the fact that modern motorhomes come to pieces if abused. No offense.

Keep your money close and upgrade to a Transit AWD class B in a couple of years. I think they will be very common by then.

I've seen a number of Class C 4x4 RV's, but I don't know about taking one into BLM land. The ones I see on the east coast are usually meant for beach camping in NJ (Island Beach State Park; 4WD mandatory per rules) and not really going off-road. Some of the BLM trails would concern me as the rear overhang on a typical Class C could be a problem. Even if the chassis is raised up, the departure angle would still be pretty low.

Quadra Van
$16,500 inc wheels and tires

My rig is 19 foot

Angle of departure not an issue

I should define BLM land

Taking a dirt road with soft sand/dirt

Camping on beach

Driving in the snow without having to chain up and feeling safe

This is my 14th rig
I’m totally happy with the size inside and outside

I have no intention of going back to a class B. The below picture was a super rig, that I gutted and had custom built interior for me

I would consider a tiger but they have a crawl through not a walk-through

In my opinion a tiger and a built out class B carry the same price tag

If I drive this rig so much that it falls apart.

I will have several years of good memories and many national parks and camping trips under my belt and a dozen trips to the Baja.

And still not be out 100 grand :-)

I respect all of your opinions and input so keep them coming

PS
I have parked next to at least 30 different fully tricked out sprinters

They are fancier and nicer
But I would feel bad about putting four wet and sandy kids and melted ice cream all over the interior

Oddly enough
I’ve had several of them say flat out “wow, I wish we had this much room”

Keep me coming boys

I always have a red frag when no one calls me back :-)

The jury is still out

I will wind up putting all of these comparisons on a spreadsheet and I will share with you folks
