CR Laurence window parts (AKA: repairing failed glue)

Anyone know if it's possible to get parts for CR Laurence windows? Something is jacked up with one of my windows but the glass is fine, so I don't really want to replace the whole thing..

But I can't find anywhere online..

Or keep an eye out on SF craigslist as my rig that got stolen over the weekend had cr-laurence windows on it and maybe the thieving wankers will be selling them on there

Re: CR Laurence window parts?

So this weekend I took the screwed up one apart.. and discovered the problem. The glass is glued to the top hinge, and the side sliders are also glued. And the glue has given up, so the glass isn't being held with anything.

I took a look at my other identical window and the same issue is happening.

Anyone know what type of glue they use? Nothing is broken, so theoretically I can just glue it all back together..

Never mind. Five phone calls and several web searches later, and I've got the info. Apparently this is a known issue. But apparently fixable. Just ordered all the supplies, in a couple weeks we'll see if it works. In the meantime some gaffers tape is holding the glass in.

Re: CR Laurence window parts?

My glass fell out and shattered one time when I cranked it open! No cheap fix there as I had to buy a complete window.

Re: CR Laurence window parts?

Thought I'd post an update... so if anyone else runs into this problem.

First off, my problem. Both CR Laurence FW904RS awning windows were about ready to fall out due to the glue failing.. So I ordered a whole bunch of stuff as per above:

Then I cut the last bit of remaining glue holding the lower awning windows in and popped them out. Scraped and cleaned as much remaining glue as I could.

Cleaned, primed, and re-glued the top hinge and two of the side slider things:

Careful, this stuff gets messy:

Re: CR Laurence window parts?

So there's where the trouble started. The top hinge of the window is just a hook kind of thing, and you need to put the window almost upside down in order to get the hinge in.. but then there is no way to get he plastic rollers in the side slider things.

I took apart half the inside of my van trying to get to the window to see if the arms could be rmeoved or moved, but I failed at finding a way. There might, be damned if I could figured it out.

So I went to Plan B. Drill out the rivets holding the plastic wheels to the arms, and redneck machine (grind) some bolt heads down to fit.

Insert bolt into plastic wheel, slide into slider thing, install hinge, bend arms over bolts. Add a nyloc, then another regular nut with a squirt of loctite, and Bob's your uncle.

Works great. More work than I planned, but to have SMB replace both of these woulda been $1600, so worth a few hours trouble.

Re: CR Laurence window parts?

The only remaining issue is while one window works perfectly, the other doesn't close tightly, and seems like the gears are stripped or sliding or something. I've got it ziptie'd closed now, and it's not going to fall out or anything, but anyone got any idea?? It'd be cool if it worked properly.

P.S. Should this be moved to Projects forum or somewhere else? Feel free admins.
