Re: Crack on my van's roof

Elltom,

If it is from the penthouse cut out or install, I would surely be looking at SMB for rectification.

I am interested in what your rig looks like, 4x4? etc. as well as how much and type of off road travel (or other) you do which would cause a possible stress fracture. I certainly do not see any dents in the pictures you posted. I think "tear" may become the proper word if it emanates from the cutout or other attach penthouse point. Keep us posted!

Ray

Re: Crack on my van's roof

Well that explains why it looked a bit "odd" for a fiberglass crack: it's apparently in the metal van roof. Nevermind any of the stuff I said about fiberglass then.

I see, the picture is sideways... didn't catch that. Does it run further than what can be seen in the picture? Both of mine ran from an edge.

That may have been me, the corners of the roof hole on the donor van were cracked.

Re: Crack on my van's roof

A few years back I had a metal roof crack emanating from the penthouse cutout above the front doors on both sides. SMB West fixed (reinforced & welded) under warranty. This is looking down at the roof and the driver side lower, forward corner of the penthouse. You might be able to find a thread with the discussion back then.

I think it's a crack.
Pushed down on one side, and it opened up.
Oh, in that case I see your concern. Scratch what I said........er.......forget what I said.

Re: Crack on my van's roof

...and all across Sportsmobileland on that fateful Sunday afternoon
Grunts and groans and the creaking of ladders
Tops were raised and reading glasses donned
Super Bowl forgotten in the moment
Verdict awaits on the rooftop

Sighs and cries and highfives with the missus
Odds unknown
Raise a toast to the lucky
Drink one for the unlucky
Checkin' mine another day

Time to check out the Puppy Bowl instead.
