"de-Bug" Project

One thing that my wife and I noticed on our recent trip; there are a crapload of bugs and insects out there! We have an 08 SMB and it did not help that we have a much larger grill than previous E-series body style. I think we had a great selection of bugs and insect species from Long Beach Ca to Banff Canada on our last trip stuck on our radiator and windshield. So here's a few add-ons I added. I hope these mods will help on our next adventure. Also, it tones down the amount of chrome in our front-end!

Definitely let us know how well the deflector works. I've never had one on a vehicle, but I've been curious if they really work.

Dude, thats so funny you posted this. I just got done vacuuming the bugs out of my radiator and tranny cooler with the shop vac! lol ( only because i was already repainting my billet grill and had it removed).

I need to see if they make this for the pre-monster grill.

Garage
I'm still worried about the air restriction the Aluminess bumper has. I put one of those on my chevy and it worked well but my diesel runs hot. The new 08 grill is much better than my 06. On long trips I look for the car wash every few 100 miles or so. Probably a good idea to pull the radiators every few years to clean them as stuff still gets stuck in there. If I had a new van I would definately use one of those screens and it don't look bad either.
Dave.

I pulled the grill and put plastic wire mesh on the back of the grille (doubled because the holes were a bit big). I've used 1/4" square wire mesh and regular screen in the past. I like my covering to be able to take a decent sized stick and keep it out of the radiator.
