Different interior color w/ vehicle wrap vinyl??

OK,
one minor thing about my rig I'm not 100% stoked on is the wood grain cabinets. Not really stoked on the white either. Not a huge deal but if I had my druthers something different would be nice.

The dark grey SMB recently started using (orange Toyo van and Buji's I think) has been an eyecatcher...

brainstorm!!

what about applying something like this...3M graphic wrap vinyl, the stuff they do vehicle wraps with
http://products9.3m.com/catalog/us/en00 ... utput_html
probably would run a couple hundred bucks and it would replaceable down the road. Whattaya think?

This stuff holds up to the elements on cars etc....

I've thought that it'd be nice to update the cabinet surfaces too, but I was thinking Formica. I’d be interested hearing of others projects or thoughts.
The glow in the dark Luminous film would be interesting.

I agree about the wood grain.

My 12YO SMB wood veneer is not doing so well and makes the van look older than the rest of the van.

Is the 3M stuff durable enough? 5 years from now will the adhesive be OK?

Lastly, the compressed paper panels are not the best base for the veneer

from what info i have gotten so far, it should hold up pretty good. I mean, they put this stuff on the outside of buses, work trucks etc...that get blasted by bugs, dirt rain/slush - 3M even has a film meant for putting signage on floors

Sounds like install is quite simple and since you can get it in sheets that a couple of ft by a couple of ft and it is designed to be removeable. replacing damaged panels could/should be easily done down the road if it gets buggered up.

i don't know if it would work or not - just been thinking that it could be a decent way to redo the interior

hmmmmm

3Mâ„¢ Luminous Film 6900 for me!

Glow in the dark sounds real interesting..

Did you find a source for it yet?

3m vinyl is generally pretty expensive.
I think there should be a bunch of sources selling plain old vinyl with good adhesive in the back.

We used simple shelf paper on top of a mod we did, and that was OK. Have to replace it once/year, but it's basically free.

The luminous stuff sounds interesting... would be great on the step out the side doors for those late night pee trips...

Here is a Pic of my interior cabinets using the stainless steel adhesive vinyl contact paper:

So far the stainless steel contact paper is holding up well. I'm still finishing up the cabinets in the back...

I guess I'm getting fixated on faux Stainless

Here's something similar:
http://www.fauxsteel.com/installation1.html

Found the source: http://www.alkor-deco.de/englisch/softmetal_e.html

"SoftMetal is - applicable without additional adhesive - scratch-resistant and durable - temperature resistant (Heat resisiant up 120°) easy to clean "

I think the ultimate is this source:
http://www.alsacorp.com/products/sheeti ... x_show.htm

They got more then sheeting, crazy paints and more.
