Re: Eli's Awning Brackets

Ok, Ok, sorry for the delays. I have to receive this post, as intrest in the brackets is on the rise. I am a small time tinkerer and fabricator, so these things take time. I have for vans looking for brackets. I need 10 confirmed orders before I can move froward. I have intrest from the following;

Zeta
PearGrove
asurfant
Surfgeej33

The brackets will be unpainted and in the same price range(unless steel has gone through the roof). I am also going to see the cost difference of stainless if anyone is interested.

Please send me a PM on the forum to confirm your orders and your shipping address. I will send you mine as well. Sorry, but I only accept cash, check or favors

Hope you are all having a happy holiday.

Eli

Re: Eli's Awning Brackets

I PM'ed Eli, but was unable to attach a photo, so let me please put this out there to the group.

Sorry for my ignorance about awnings.

Here is essentially what I asked in my PM:

I don't have an awning yet, but I want to get one and I like your brackets. Before I go ahead and place an order, though, can you tell me if you think they would work on my van?

I have an EB350 with an aluminess roof rack. I am worried that that mounting hardware for the aluminess might stick out too much and I had been thinking about one day sticking an awning on the roof rack. I don't know squat about awnings, though, so I figured I'd ask you.

I'd rather use your brackets, if possible, cause then I'd have the option to put a bubble top on one day.

I'll try to attach a photo to this PM.

Thanks.

Paul

Re: Eli's Awning Brackets

My guess is the brackets won't work with the aluminess rack. It looks like the rack mounts come straight down to the gutter. The brackets go striahgt up from the gutter. Looks like they would hit each other or be in the way. Also because there are only two brackets the awning cuts in a little in the middle because the ford roof curves out a little.

If I were you I would attach the awning directly to the Aluminess roof rack instead of the gutter mounts. I am sure aluminess has done this before on other rigs.

Pic of my Eli brackets installed.

Suggestion:
1) Fiamma
2) Call dave at aluminess and tell him you want a bolt on bracket
3) if you get a bubble top (crusier better you can sell the rack w/ brackets

Re: Eli's Awning Brackets

thanks!

I thought they stopped making cruiser tops.

I love Aluminess. they did right by me when I had a bent ladder bracket.

Re: Eli's Awning Brackets

I don't see why they wouldn't work. You can always bend them/move them out further if necessary and the front bracket is in the door, the rear can fall between rack mounts- however, I don't see why you wouldn't just put it on the rack if you're keeping it.

Re: Eli's Awning Brackets

Hello all,

I have 3 confirmed (checks in hand) orders for the next set of brackets. I have 4 inquires (no check in hand). I do them in orders of 10, so If you want them there are 7 unclaimed sets. I have tweaked these slightly to provide greater clearance to the pop tops, as well as offer them in stainless steel for those that do not want to paint these works of art.

Please PM me with your address, and I will provide mine for payment. I would like to get 2 or 3 more confirmed orders, as to reduce my financial burden.

Thanks

Eli
