It was either the stereo (which is really easy to remove) or the dog house. I needed to be able to see and feel behind the dash.

Considering it was about 25 degrees outside, it was a no brainer...

That make sense. What did you use to mount your scangauge? I'm thinking of mounting ours on the same location. We are using Velcro now but the adhesive does not stick well. Thanks again!

Re: Extra 12 Volt Outlet

The ScanGauge velcro has worked well in 4 vehicles for us.

Did you ever put ArmorAll or similar on the dash before you used the velcro?

If so, you need to completely clean the area before you apply new velcro.

Re: Extra 12 Volt Outlet

We have had our ScanGuage mounted on the top edge of the dash with velcro for nine months now.... and the adhesive held up in the Texas summer....

Re: Extra 12 Volt Outlet

I mounted my Scangauge in exactly the same place as Joey back in October when I picked up my van and used Velcro also. I just went out and checked how well the Velcro was sticking and it's tenaciously doing its thing.

It's heavy duty 3M brand Velcro, the hard plastic kind that has "hooks" on both ends, versus the common "hook and loop" type.

Coincidentally, it's the exact same stuff as used on the E-Z Pass electronic toll tags...

Re: Extra 12 Volt Outlet

only slightly

Does anyone have a surface mounted multi-outlet 12v that they like?

We still can't decide how we want to do this. We would really like more than one outlet on the passenger side of the cab. I was thinking we might mount something under the passenger seat.

Re: Extra 12 Volt Outlet

I found two at MarineWest for $17, they flush mount great, the icon is easy to remove (although the left over plastic is a bit rough looking) the only problem is they are B size not A size so not everything fits.
