...and your sentence will be the standard Sportsmobile punishment. You shall drive to the Valley of Fire Part Deux SMB rally in a convertible Mazda Miata and sleep in a tent. No van!

Emergency fanectomy because the new "improved" Fan-Tastic fans are utter krahp. Incidentally, I'll have one for sale- barely used! soon.

Jage, the king of open-ended posts. So Jage, what is going to replace the barely used FF?

Uhmmm, not exactly a great way to advertise a barely used fan for sale

Yeah I've sometimes wondered about all the TMI about our vans... But no it's great, that's why I'm replacing it with...

Why a fan-tastic fan of course. I managed to find an old pre-improved model on eBay for. Honestly I could possibly probably maybe live with the weaker motor on the new model, and the redesigned 2" rise was, well I wasn't going to rip it out just for that if only because they're all like that now, but the one time auto off rain sensor? Constant source of rage both camping and at home. That was really the main reason. The old motor and low profile are just a bonus.

The trick now is to find somebody who never reads these things...

How can you tell if it is the older or newer version? RV dealer here has one on the shelf with quite a bit of dust on the box

Easiest way is gold flat motor = new, black tall motor = old
There is also the chimney rise on the new one, evident in the front hinge being vertical in the front face, where the old one has the hinge flat on the flange with the hinge screws interspaced with the flange screws.

Almost all the online pics are misleading because a lot still have the old black motor pictured and even more are shot from an isometric view that obscures the rise and hides the hinge.

They're also a different model number old v new, but I don't have that in front of me atm.
