Fender Modifications for Larger Tires aka Cutting the Fenders

This gets mentioned regularly, figured I'd throw my two cents in since I have done it. I put larger tires on a lifted Quigley last year, and had some rubbing over bumps while in corners (the normal time).

I chatted with Ramsey, and he gave me the two minute rundown of what Agile had done in the past, so I set to work.

Step 1: Remove fenders entirely from the van. This might not be necessary, but it only takes 5 or 10 minutes, and makes the whole process a lot easier.

Step 2: Draw a nice 'pizza slice' on the fender, then cut it out:

Step 3: Carefully bend the fender together to touch. Spot weld (hopefully better than I started above, you can see the broken welds). Once you get the welder dialed in, weld the whole seam. For some reason I didn't take a picture of the entire seam welded, but I had to go at it a few times, because welding sheet metal is hard when you're a terrible welder.

Step 4: Once welding is done, chuck some bondo on it so you can have a nice smooth finish. Also, try not to move the camera while taking a picture, the picture comes out crappy.
