Gauchos

Anyone know who makes the gaucho frames some of our vans use? I'd like to get one for my rig, but SMB wants big bucks for them.

Thanks
Tom

There are tons of RV outlets in Northern Indiana, Elkhart area. I'd look there for gauchos. I know in Texas the PH tops are contracted out to a small shop next to SMB, so it's likely the actual SMB seats are similar and it will be hard to find where they get them.

I was hoping someone might notice a brand name on the frame or hinges or whatever that might help.

Thanks
Tom

What I was trying to say is they're probably custom made for SMB, or by SMB, so there wouldn't be a brand name.

Re: Gauchos

Here is an online outlet for rollover goucho type couch/beds.

This one stores flat on the wall, but looks like it could just be mounted as a couch and folded out to be a bed.

http://www.blazinbelltech.com/furniture.html#couch

I Installed a similar couch in my buddies Sprinter a couple of weeks ago, and I really like the rollover hinge design. I'm currently hunting for the supplier of the hinges so I can customize my rear bench seat.

Are these how the gauchos work? Where the back folds down over the seat to make the bed. Or do they pull out and the back flattens?

Tom

Re: Gauchos

In my 50 the seat base comes forward and the back comes down. I'm pretty sure my brother's sprinter works the same way, although when he is out solo he somehow takes the back off, so it is more like a single, but more room than as a couch because the seat back covers some of the cusion. Anectdotal at best, I know.

The old school is to have a folding bench that goes between two permanently mounted seat bottoms, and possibly have it double as the seat back.
