Home brew high top

Hi Team,

Met a great couple last year at Beau's Oktoberfest; Simon and Melissa.

Sadly Simon has vanitis and had nothing to treat it with. They slept in the back of an SUV.

He checked out our pop top 1984 Dodge B350 4x4 with a gleam in his eye. And disappeared quickly the next morning.

This year we notice this white Dodge Maxi Wagon roll in with a sharp high top.

Simon put this together in 8 weekends. Melissa kept their 2 young boys occupied to smooth his path so to speak.

I'll let the pictures tell the story:

Cheers,

G.

PS Congrats on stage 1 Simon.Click image for larger version

Brilliant! I think he should call his van "Evinrude"

That's brilliant, boats like that are given away for free all the time. Might be kinda heavy though.

Gi’day all and thanks for the kind words. Simon here, that boat van is mine. Cheers Gavin! As for naming it, at least for now we lovingly call it “Trihull and error”. The question about it being heavy, well I scaled the van (at the local transfer site) before and after adding the 15’ Fibreglass hull and the total gain was a mere 170lbs. Pretty good I’d say. Down the road you’d never notice it there as far as drag is concerned.

Cheers!
Simon

You just flip the van and launch the boat.

It does make it difficult to keep the cups in the holders.

That’s easy. Just mount the cup holders on gimbals. (Quick rush to Google...)

Seriously, Simon had a vision and made something out of it. That’s rare and that’s talent.

Lol! Sadly no, it’s a roof for a van now because it’s no longer sea worthy. Poor old girl never saw it coming!

More pictures eh? Let’s see, I’ve got some interior shots on hand.
