Re: Larger gas tank & van hood mask?

on the van "hood mask" i am sold on the combination we used on our van... a weather tech bug deflector and 3m dicor carbon fiber hood wrap. The bug deflector keeps the hood clear of bugs/debris and has a nice WOW factor from those in camp/parking lots : )

X 10

I want that! I don't care for the looks of the bug deflectors at all but like the looks of the bra. It just gets crap under the thing. A buddy of mine said it years ago, "my 240Z's bra is supposed to protect the hood but does just the opposite. Yet I don't want to take it off cause it looks so good". Everybodies MMV on this one.

Any idea who you spoke with / what you asked. I've never been able to get squat out of them.

Re: Larger gas tank & van hood mask?

I have a general question about the larger gas tank. I have a full SMB conversion with their 4x4 installed and the sticker on the transferflow gas tank clearly says it is a 37 gallon tank. I have a V10. Was there different size options available (37 vs 47 gallon)? I looked at my original build sheet and it doesn't give an option. I have never filled the tank when empty since I don't let it get that low so I have no idea how much it actually holds? Am I right to assume the sticker is correct and it only holds 37 gallons? Is there a bigger option available for my V10?

Previous owner called TF last month. He wrote notes on a brochure page from them, but don't think they listed who he spoke to.

Perhaps because it is a replacement quote (vs new installation) they were more inclined to answer?

My tank is pretty sketchy, lots of rust, and the front strap is very rusted. I am bugging SMB right now to find out where I can get replacement straps (them or TF). Wouldn't be much work to fab new straps, but if they already have them, easier to buy. Going to hit tank gently with a wire brush and some POR15.

It is a monster tank, very narrow, and quite long. My van is a Quigley so maybe their transfer case leaves a little more room.
