Latches

Anyone come up with a good latch system for the fabric covered sliding cabinet doors? Mine always move back and forth when driving on washboard roads. I was thinking of using Velcro to hold 'em closed unless someone has a better idea??

Sliding doors

I wish my doors went back and forth.. They have been warped since day one... I can't get them out...

Velcro would work great..

Sliding doors

My doors are nice and snug so they don't slide (ie. I have no experience with my upcoming suggestions) but you might want to consider:

1. Wedging something under or on top of the door panel to give it a tighter fit. Maybe a small piece of cardboard or plastic?

2. Doing what many people do at home to add security to their sliding glass doors, put a stick in the track so it can't slide.

Good luck!

My thought would be to stick something in the bottom of the track to make the doors fit tighter. Maybe something with a sticky side like tape or dyna-mat.

Well, I finally got around to fixing up a "latch" for my sliding cabinet doors. Sorry it took so long, but not a lot of stores carrying velcro here in Baja.

What I did was to glue a piece of the velcro hook side to the cabinet itself and then took about a four inch piece of the pile side and sewed it back on itself with a tight loop so that the door handle would just fit through it. I then removed the door handle and slipped the loop on the handle. Then it was a simple matter of cutting off the end of this piece so it was just long enough to stick itself to the hook piece on the cabinet. This is working well for us and is Baja tested on really bad washboard.

I tried the stick idea, and it worked fine, but I had to use two sticks. One for the inside door and one for the outside and it was a hassle. And then we lost one of the sticks. So, I think this solution will be idiot proof which is a requirement for me....

Plus, if it doesn't work out or I change my mind, it's easy to remove.

Great Idea Scatter! Our old Westy had the same set up, but instead of the velcro idea, we had a more permanent solution. We used these metal snaps with a 5"x1" gray vinyl strap.

Now you tell me
Just kidding, but what I did is working fine so far. When the velcro gives up, I'll go with your method. Thanks for the tip.
