Thanks, Dave! The bumper took forever but I'm happy I did it myself rather than settling for something I wasn't too excited about.

MadScience, looks like you're correct! I could've sworn that the CA law used to say that mudflaps had to cover at least down to the axle centerline. That's the rule I've always gone by. I honestly don't remember where I learned that, though, whether it was the written law or what the CHP told me. You'll notice basically all new cars and trucks have body moldings or small mudflaps to achieve this.

To me it really doesn't matter what any state law says unless it applies to all 50 states. I can't use or want a huge removable flaps; it's a storage issue for me. These things might just be added to my van and not taken off. But I don't want to rip one off and cause body damage. I'd also like to be able to find replacement flaps at the common auto store.
