Re: Oil cooler issue......

Yes.......I lost quite a bit when it puked. I topped it off, limped the van to a shop, had a flush, deep pan put on it & eased it to the house. The pan helped to keep the temps down thru added capacity but I can see the numbers rise when I'm climbing a grade. It has to be addressed, just how do I want to go about it. Just pull the pin & Get-R-Done!

Re: Oil cooler issue......

I put a Mag Hytech on my 4R100 transmission and loaded it with Synthetic Mercon. The capacity is huge (over 20 quarts!) The result for me has been tranny temps that haven't cleared 220 even when going up/down mountain roads in hot weather. The aux cooler clutch still kicks in, but the temps stay below 220. I also added a Bill's chip which keeps the torque converter more locked when descending which also contributes to the cooler temps. so far, haven't gone down the badger route of larger cooler with PS cooler. Although, I like his hydraboost brake master cylinder!
