Re: Penthouse Install - Fresno SMB (not optimal)

Does anyone have any good pics of the electric penthouse setup? It would be cool to see the motors, tracks, mounts, arms, etc. to help me understand why it's so expensive to change out.

Thanks

Re: Penthouse Install - Fresno SMB (not optimal)

Has anyone tried to use the heater fan in the vent position with the windows and doors all closed in the van. The increased air pressure would make the top much lighter going up. I had a guy with a pickup pop top tell me he used that trick.

I have done this -- after getting the idea from forum member LenS (thanks!). It does make the top go up somewhat easier due to the positive pressure it generates. I don't know that I'd say "much" lighter, but it does help.

I heard at the time I bought my van their were problems some people were having with the electric tops. I went for the manual I added lots of weight in the next several years, so I purchased a electric lift for four hundred dollars. twice in 10 years it stopped working. replaced a one dollar fuse and it has worked perfect. By the way it goes up and down faster then the electric penthouses.
