I am swapping a EB penthouse from one e350 to another. I have read jus tab out ever thread on here about it and will probably be reninfocing it like wonderboy, and I already got new bolts from gooseberry. The question I have is how heavy is the actual top? Trying to figure out how to lift the top off and the weight would help me tremendously. Looking at sportsmobile website the say a sprinter top ads 375# total.
What ^ he ^ said. With canvas, frame and interior panels 375 sounds about right to me. I have lifted off/on an RB and an EB top and would say 200 on the RB and robably 250 on the EB.
I built a tall wooden frame to drive the donor van under. Unwound the top, hoisted it up with ropes to suspend it, drove the donor out, the receiver in, and dropped it onto its new home. Frame was 2x4's. Took about an hour to assemble it. The only help I had was getting the frame up on its 10' high legs. Well worth the effort.

It was much lighter then I thought it would be. I used two engine chain hoist from the rafters and two 4x6's. Lift the top just enough to remove weight of the tubes then released the spring tension, lowered the tubes then drove out from under it.
Lowering the top with engine chain hoist takes a long time from that height to saw horse. Time for raptor liner, tube sleving, shoulder bolts, gooseberry top bolts, etc!
