Thanks for the tip, John. I'll give it a try with my Jeep's grille -- which these days looks like it has chrome freckles.

I had my billet grill powder coated black and so far it has not chipped

Hey Geoff,
One tip. I found that some rubberized under coats are rougher then others. I found this one to be the smoothest and once dry, you can even sand it down a bit to smooth it out even more. I got this at a local auto body paint supply store.

Hey John, did you also paint the chrome on the top part of your bumper the same way? I like that a lot.

No, That was powder coated by SMB West. It has held up very well, not a single chip in it.

Well!! I dont know about preparation!.. I just buy a can of plastic dip and I painted!.. And I like it ..

I just take it to the car wash and it pass!. Lol the water pressure did nothing to the bumper!... I guess it depends how many coats do you apply on it! I use the whole can just on the bumper!.. I'm very happy whit the results!..

I used undercoating and bumper paint. No plasti dip. I decided to go full throttle instead of half.
