Projects, Modifications to SMB vehicles, and Known Issues

Perfect title for this mishap. I decided to plastic-dip my jhooks because I thought it would look cool and help keep down the rattling on bumpy roads. Unfortunately it never occurred to me that the rubberized hooks would grab the penthouse fabric. Crap....

I'm hoping that SMB can replace the window since it's zippered. Anybody have some tan duct tape?

Can't say enough good things about McNett's Tenacious Tape for repairs like this (the clear version).

I'm interested in what it costs for SMB to repair screens as I currently have two of mine taped (different mishap, same lack of forethought).

Crap. Not good. Wonder if SMB has a patch kit.

I have the same problem.. one of the only 'flaws' my van came with. Careful, now the hook has a nice grab point to tear it more.

I'm thinking old school iron on patches. But I haven't tried it yet. The window can be unzipped to get it more or less on a flat surface to iron well.

Anyone else try this?

Kirkhams makes high quality canvas expedition tents in Utah, they show this on their website: http://www.kirkhams.com/tent-accessorie ... yl-fabric/

That is exactly how I repaired the canvas in my Volkswagen Westfalia. It held fast the entire 7 years I owned it. I used a piece of 2x12 wrapped in a towel as an ironing board. Do both sides.
