Re-fiberglassing the penthouse

Has anyone ever applied some new layers of fiberglass to the penthouse? We have some crackling noise and a few fractures it appears. As second owners SMB will not warranty even though we have all original order documentation, etc. I was thinking that based on my surfboard repair experience laying down some fabric and glassing over a coat or two of resin in a cross hatch design for strength. Then at the end take it and have it rhino lined. This will allow for the added strengh to get up top to add stuff to my basket rack while sealing any leaks. Thoughts?

Re: Re-fiberglassing the penthouse

I'm not sure the top needs more strength. The cracks I've seen are superficial, just in the gelcoat. I don't think there is any real leaking throught the cracks.

That said, maybe just do the Rhino liner to seal everything.

Re: Re-fiberglassing the penthouse

I'm with Mike. Cracking noises and cracked coating are fairly common if you walk on the roof. If you do reinforce things keep the washers and bolt fasteners clear because those are where you'll develop leaks, and anything around or over them just makes it more difficult to address.
