Re: Sticker problem

Once again wishing I had basic, easily removable vinyl stripes on my van, instead of the super-deluxe SMB-applied painted stripes :-(

I've never loaned a tool to anyone who didn't prove to be a dipshit after the fact.

Re: Sticker problem

^^^ aint that the truth?

these were my choices that day:

- get roped into removing all this guys pinstripes in my driveway myself.
- let him at it with my tools, clogging up my driveway & impeding me from being productive (and still likely me doing all the work).
- or send him on his way with a $20 dollar tool (knowing i got my 20 bucks out of said tool already) i may or may not see again and enjoy my day off with the possibility of getting a project completed.

i choose the later

i cant find any pix of your van. are they really that bad?

i could be way off, but couldnt you sand down the stripes, then cut & buff the finish underneath??

Some days they bother me, some days I don't mind them. When I first bought the van I really hated them, but lately they don't bother me as much. I still think they make the van look older than it is (well, it's a 1998, but still...).

See my stripe thread at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10187&hilit=stripes&start=0

Re: Sticker problem

I've been thinking about the hot water thing, and it occurred to me that I have a handheld steam cleaner which has several attachments, one of which it a pointed nozzle. I never thought about using this for stickers but think I will try it next time I need to remove one. It should work awesome since steam will remove just about anything. I'll update the thread when I test it out.

Hmmm, may have to buy an old car now so I have something to try it on.

Re: Sticker problem

Plastic razor blades can prove to be useful in this task as well.
