Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Finally went to Toyo 315 MT's. Looks great. The spare tire mount was a major PITA! Now to adjust the speedometer. Also added an bigger rear bumper box.

How is the road noise of these tires?
Thanks, Travis

My buddy at Scott's Speed and Custom is in the final phase of converting his 1998 7.3 F350 4x4 to 6cyl Cummins, we just had a long conversation about the different ways guys have done this swap, why he did HIS the way he did. The biggie is to decide is which transmission and T-case to use, the Ford and buy the adapter, or the Dodge. He bought a complete high-mileage craig'slist Dodge truck to help him do the swap, rebuilt the engine to be a super high hp/torque hot-rod towing truck.

BTW, although he went with a high HP sequential turbo/big injectors over-the-top go-fast conversion, he says he has over 150hrs labor, 2yrs, and over 10g's in parts in the project. A straight 7.3-for-another-7.3 swap might be worth a second look.

Not bad Travis...engine noise is far worse. I had 285 MT's before. What I did notice is that the van doesn't handle corners as well now so I'm glad I put the air bags back. Would love to go with 17" rims with 315's but I'd have to replace 8 rims and tires and that's $$$. I did find the van rides smoother over rough terrain though.

Watched the tail lights disappear down the road.

Just like ridintall above Ridintall above, sold it to a great couple (new members). The build process for RHOGAN (2013 edition) starts today.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

From the day I got it, something about my SMB bugged me. I learned to live with it, but since I am particular (aka anal retentive bordering on OCD), I never really accepted the imperfection. Can you spot the offending flaw?

Well, now El Guapo Rojo is the proverbial "unblemished red heifer!"

I also added an LED map light so my wife can read in bed.
