Wow, that's scary. So the tire shop road tested your van after putting on tires? Do they normally do that? Makes me wonder how high they jumped it.

Drove ours home through the Sacramento valley in 100+° heat with no A/C. The dogs didn't seem to care. I had two water soaked t-shirts in the fridge that the GF was nice enough to swap out for me. Wasn't too bad.

I'll be starting a thread soon about separating the Starcool III system from the factory A/C

I think you better hurry up and get that AC fixed, I don't think the heat is going away any time soon.

What is your reasoning for separating the Starcool? Mine works incredibly well while driving. Just curious is it that you can't get it fixed or some other reason?

Don't feel alone Greg, I just (I think) blew up my A/C compressor. Taking it to Rick before it gets too hot. Yesterday was 104 and it's supposed to be a lot warmer today

Well, I know the aux condenser is shot. That's $700 plus labor, if I could find one. Then I don't know if the compressor works, or any of the other components for that matter. I could spend all summer throwing thousands of dollars at this thing only to have it not work, or I can just cut and cap the three lines and have dash A/C this summer. I could always reconnect the Starcool at a later date. Plus, this is our second SMB and we have never once used the Starcool.

Hope you can find parts and get it fixed. I looked for a replacement condenser online and could not find one. Maybe straight from Danhard. For a compressor who knows? Danhard doesn't even mention them on their website that I could see. I went looking for a compressor price too just to get an idea of the cost of replacing that too if necessary.

Greg, get the van over to Alouis on McCallister. They did a great job fixing the A/C on the van achop bought. New compressor and other stuff. It has rear air as well and they made it work awesomely for a reasonable amount.

Greg at least on my system, there are 2 compressors, the stock Ford one and the shorepower compressor. It's the Ford compressor that blew. Easy fix but a relief valve has to be adjusted to work with the Starcool system. I agree that the Shorepower compressor is something almost useless and I rarely use it. If that goes out I'd still like the rear A/C to work off the 12 v system while driving but I wouldn't miss that huge 110AC compressor.

Makes sense. Sorry the parts are so much and the service is so hard to find. Ray seems to have a good connection for the future if needed.

Finally, over 3 years since I installed the bumper, I installed the custom deluxe box shelf and organized the box. I had not previously installed it because I couldn't decide what height to put it. Which is stupid.
