Me, too. Seems the extra strength, redundancy, and insurance that they won't swing open - whether due to latch failure or operator failure (because I'm capable of that) - is worth the effort.

Are you staying at a campground or can you recommend on either in silverto or winter park area.

We live in Durango so no camping for us but South Mineral is a really good campground about 10 miles west from Silverton (google it). Can't help you on the Winter Park request but a LOT of national forest which is better as you can boondock camp all around there.

Grab handle
The wife wanted a grab handle for the van. I found a pair of Ford grab handles on eBay, though I noticed our '97 Ford wasn't designed for grab handles, so I put together some custom mounts, and trimmed the pillar cover. Tech screws seemed fine, just keep them short, as the pillar isn't too thick.

EGT probe
After walking by the box in the garage for almost a year, finally got off my arse and onto my back to install my EGT probe for my Edge Insight CTS2.
Drill and tap time about 10min. Routing, cord management, disassembly and reassembly of random parts to gain access, almost 2hrs.

Now you can watch the EGT gauge on the big hills, and maybe lay off the pedal a little. I was surprised how hot it gets in there, pretty quick, while pushing these heavy beasts over Cajon Pass or the like.

I’m mentally preparing for total information overload on my next trip. Just driving around town I probably spend too much time watching engine oil and coolant temps and then computing deltas, FICM voltages, alternator output and boost pressures.
Overall I think it’s a good thing, I do like to mash the skinny pedal and this will keep me out of the danger zone.
