Generally speaking 99% of SMBs wont need that kind of pulling power. A 16.5 winch needs to be mounted feet first. Ya, you might not pull the drum out the first time. But on the 3rd or 4th BAM.... Could kill you....This is a separate issue than the bumping mounting...

Too much weight on the front end is hard on all the components.....tie rod... ball joints ....tract bar....and most of all the steering box. It takes a hell of a beating off-road.

In my opinion ( 40 years off-road) a 9000 to 10000lbs with nylon rope and learn how to use a snatch block (doubles your pull power)is the best way to go for safety and longevity.....
