Who makes air intakes for Ford Vans?!

First of all, I am not sure if this is the right place to post this....sorry jage!! I want to put a new intake on my rig and I can't find one. I know they make cold air intakes that fit our vans, and I have seen it mentioned here and there in the forum. Today I went to 4wheelparts in Vista, CA and asked to buy a new intake. The guy told me K&N doesn't make a specific intake for Ford E Series vans....and neither did any of the other vendors he stocked!!! So I know someone knows what the deal is, so please fill me in!!! My guess is that maybe another Ford truck has a similar setup and I can use that intake with some modification....The shroud on my current intake is cracked and my engine is sucking hot air off my engine back into my intake!!!! It totally sucks!! Please help!!!!!

Re: Who makes air intakes for Ford Vans?!

I (and others here) have had Zylstra Automotive in Visalia, CA put one on. The intake is an Airaid. They do a custom install.

My van is at SMB now, but if I can get a pic, I will post it.

VANMAN4LIfe ,
If you go to Page 5 and 6 of my gallery you can see photograph
s of the custom Air Raid that Shawn Zylstra has made for our 6.0 TD . I am very happy with mine and Shawn is a very knowledgable young man who loves anything diesel .

Re: Who makes air intakes for Ford Vans?!

Billwilson-- other than looking cool as ice, cold air intakes increase airflow to mix with your gas during combustion....this means better gas mileage, added horsepower ( i think between 10 and 12 horsepower for my van), and overall better performance! Not to mention just how cool the do look!! CarringB---thanks in advance, I am looking for the AFE intake!!!! ALOHA EVERYONE AND MAHALO FOR THE KOKUA!!!!!!!!!

Will it pass smog or do you have to put the old back on when it is time?

Stiggs ,
I have had mine visually checked by a Smog Station and the Ford dealership and have received a thumb's up by both of them . You might want to contact Shawn at Zylstra as he stay's on top of all thing's Diesel and could give you factual information regarding the new Diesel rulings .Everything that he does is in compliance with California Regulations .

Re: Who makes air intakes for Ford Vans?!

Greg your air box has no cosmetic difference than stock, correct? Zilstra's doesn't move the intake or add some kind of snorkel right?

Re: Who makes air intakes for Ford Vans?!

Dave ,
The Zylstra 6.0 TD Custom Air Box is basically a plug and play design and no engine compartment alterations that will not allow the immediate replacement of the Stock Very Restrictive FOMOCO AirBox . He designed an Aluminum divider that drops into place blocking the majority of the engines hot air from flowing thru the intake . You can see the design on pages 5 and 6 in my gallery . His design allow's for quick and easy access to the new AirRaid Filter . Time to change this superior filter is 15 minutes and require only a 5/16 ths Nut Driver for exchanging of the Filter .

Note: If photograph's are not clear to anyone interested let me know and I will attempt to provide better one's
