Re: 120v AC from a car alternator?

What sort of AC voltage does a typical alternator put out before rectification?

Is the AC alternator output single phase?

I would imagine that if you need clean 60Hz AC that may be tough with an alternator spinning at different freqs/rpms......

A simple transformer could step up the voltage, but the frequency could be a different issue...

Re: 120v AC from a car alternator?

Yes, in the video I think he got as high as 300Hz. Not a problem for the light bulbs he was running but definitely a problem for motors. But would it be a problem for a bulk/absorption battery charger? I know that Battery Minder uses a high frequency pulse for desulfation so it must be changing the output frequency, but does it expect/require 60Hz input?

I knew there must be a reason that the cpu/transformer on the Auragen was so big and heavy.
