2006 EB 350 Battery/Inverter Questions

Hello All:

Forgive my ignorance, replaced my Lifeline house battery as it was original, when I connect it to house power, via the shoreline it doesn’t seem to be charging, won’t even power up the flourecent house lights. When I start it, powers right up to 13 volts, as soon as I turn off the engine, it immediately drops to 8 volts and continues to drop eventually not reading on the panel, even when connected via shoreline.I bought this SMB with no paperwork so I’m learning very slowly. I have it plugged to a household 15 amp receptacle via an adapter. Am I missing something? Is there any reset buttons or swithches?

What type of inverter?

Does the inverter have a remote panel that might offer some troubleshooting? You might have the Sure Power separator and that sounds like it is working since you are seeing 13 volts with the van running. Can you take a measurement at the battery without the van running and compare it to the 8 volt reading. Where was the 8 volt reading taken?

You should have power running from the battery to the inverter and also from the battery to the 12 volt fuse panel. You should check the voltage at both of these locations and see what it shows. Could be as simple as a loose ground or wire somewhere.

To protect your battery I would pull fuses in case you have a drain. Then when you get time to troubleshoot put each fuse in one by one. Start by making sure the battery reads in the high 12s without anything hooked up. Let us know.

I'd disconnect everything, let it sit 6 hrs and take readings on each battery and report back.

Have you located your AC breaker panel (like a small house breaker panel, usually under a bed or couch). Any breakers off?

No all breakers are on, would it make any difference that it’s plugged in to a 15 amp receptacle? Going to check the grounds.

Checked grounds breakers and all fuses. Here are a few photos. Bought this just before it was repossessed. All I have is a build sheet from Lynn at SMB. Found 1 fuses that was pulled, must have been some sort of detector now that it’s replaced I get a beep like a smoke detector. Running it’s charging at 14 volts, when I stop motor and reconnect shore power, it starts to drop after 5 minutes it down to 8 volts. The charging indicator on the panel never illuminates.
