Re: ABS Light On
This just came up for me yesterday. I was going to take it to the local Ford dealer, but they are a hassle to leave it with - I'd have to take a bus or a train home from Jersey, so I'm going with a good local guy I know.
I'll report back when I get it back. Hoping it's just a sensor and not a wiring issue.

Re: ABS Light On
Happened on mine and haven't found yet what it is... after twice at the dealer.
Appeared after changing to 285's when taking curves on the highway or mountain roads between 40 and 60 mile/hour.
Last idea of the dealer was the ratio introduced in the computer to correct the speedo could leed to a calculation mistake... I'm not convinced
As some of you say bad sensors... better idea to me, but will have to check with John when back near my van...

Re: ABS Light On
Looks like the ABS light is very sensitive. Mine comes on sometimes. Sometimes it will reset when I turn it off and back on, sometimes it will stay on and reset while I'm driving. I have no idea what is causing it.

Re: ABS Light On
Mine does the same- On and off at odd times for no obvious reason.

Re: ABS Light On
My ABS light came on as I made the last step in Steel Pass last March, going from Eureka Dunes to Saline Valley. Like Mike said, I shut off the engine, restarted and the light was off.

Re: ABS Light On
I also have the on again/off again relationship with my ABS light. I looked in my owners manual and found out that when the light is on the ABS system is disabled. Didn't know that.

Re: ABS Light On
The ABS sensors are very sensitive to metal debris on them, especially the rear. My light comes about twice a year (which means about every 18,000 miles) and I've learned its an easy fix. I pull the sensor, wipe it off with a rag, and put it back together. You can see a thin metallic film on it when I pull it, which I'm pretty sure is worn Limited Slip clutch material. But even without LS normal wear will eventually result in some metal in the oil, then this can end up sticking to the sensor.

Re: ABS Light On
Where are the sensors that they can get limited slip clutch material on them?

Re: ABS Light On
On non-Roll Stability vans, the sensor is stuck into the top of the differential pumpkin, nearly touching the tone ring, which is partially in oil so in slings oil onto the sensor while you drive.
