Aftermarket Dome Light Question

My 2010 Ford E350 SMB came with the dome light pictured below. Is there a way to have this light not stay on when doors are open? I've seen the threads discussing this with the stock lights but I'm hoping since this appears to be an aftermarket light this would be an included feature. Maybe I'm just being too optimistic. My current option is to take the bulbs out which isn't ideal.

Might not be of help, but in my 2000, it has the exact same light. I can just twist the headlight knob till it clicks, and then the dome lights are disabled. But it's the old school knob on the dash. Don't twist anything forcefully, I don't want you to beak something! Also, I upgraded the bulbs to LED and it made a big difference. But a 2010 might already have those.

You should take it to a Ford dealer and look into Dark Car and Police Mode programming to see if that disables the lights for you. I did that but did both as I did not want headlights on when I used the key fob as well. Took care of all of them.

i am going to add one of these to the dome light fuse on mine so i can defeat the dome lights when parked with the doors opened for an extended period of time:

The reprogramming would be cool to do.
But for simplicity, just add a switch (of your choice) (in line of the hot wire) next to the light you want to control manually.

I have had this on my to do list as well. I have not taken the light apart yet but my plan is to take the power into the fixture on use the push button on the drivers side and a master on/off. In other word when the drivers side button is pressed the light will not come on at all. My reasoning is I can still use the headlight knob to turn on the dome light if I need while in the drivers seat and my wife can still use the button on her side to turn her light on or off. When I get to it I will post a write up on this thread.
