Alternator Front Wire

Can anyone tell me where this wire gets connected to? It's just loose.

Re: Alternator Front Wire

I think the more important question is, where is it coming from and does it have power?

Re: Alternator Front Wire

It looks a lot like a ground wire. Look around for a missing bolt with evidence of the terminal having scraped the surrounding metal. It has to be somewhere within the reach of the wire, just move it around without pulling too hard to see where it might fit. After of course having tested it for voltage to ground..

Looks like a ground wire to the body.

I've had it for about 2 months an this is the first time I've noticed it. It's also been to a mechanic once so he may have done it. If not who knows lol.

Re: Alternator Front Wire

Looks like one that has to be disconnected when you replace the fuel filter.

Well, maybe. That looks like one of the main harness grounds, which is more like an electrical noise suppressor, which really helps to make things like the FICM last longer and prevents weird faults like can-bus errors.

Re: Alternator Front Wire

I agree that it looks like a body ground. It probably goes under the bolt in the top left of your picture. The washer on the bolt looks to about the same size as the worn area on the connector.
