I have a 2006 E350 van with the V10 engine. Everything normal until last night. At idle the alternator output voltage drops slowly to 12.1v and almost no current going into the chassis battery (It has never done that before that I can recall), at higher rpm the output goes back up to normal 13.8-14.1,and output current goes as high as 100-150A as usual, depending on load. Overnight chassis battery voltage measures 12.5, vehicle starts as normal. Start battery measures good with a battery load checker. Any ideas on why this is happening?
Used the voltmeter at every connection point we can think of and all seems normal but....
Funny this happens just before leaving on a trip......
Just curious how much and who did you get it through...If you don't mind. After my little electrical issue I'm thinking of replacing mine and having the old one gone through.

Based on the URL on the label in the pic, it's from highamp.com. I looked there for my 5.4 van and the alternator was around $650 for a 200 amp or so unit.
I did get it from Nations. I'll dig up the invoice when I get back in town but I think it was somewhere in the $350.00 range. $220.00 to get it installed with a new belt.
I ordered the 100 amp at idle unit with 200 max to stay within the Sterling chargers specs. I would have gone up to the SPX 270 unit had it not been for the Sterling Unit.
Leaving for Utah tonight so only got a short drive in last night.
The idle voltage was showing 15.3 at the alternator for the first 10 minutes and it shut the Sterling unit down. After driving for 10 minutes or so it dropped to 14.5 or so and I was able to turn the Sterling back on. 15.3 is out of range all around but I'll watch it close...
There will be a lot of observing going on with this driving coming up tonight.....
