Battery Info and Maintenance

It is time for a new battery so I have learned a lot. If you access DEKA the company SMB recommends for the house batt, you can download their highly technical manual. It have very interesting charts and can wake up those who use lots of lighting etc, and make you aware of your usage habits.

I did find out this is a differnt animal, from your normal battery and requires sophitcated charging. It is also not readily available, the factory is doing a production run this month. Perhaps there is greater demand, since this is camping season. FYI, the post type on the Deka supplied with our 07 ford is a no. 975, this must be specified as the wire terminations require this size. Ours is a 4D, catagory, and Dekas no. 8A4D/975.

Anyone doing their own changeout should be prepared for the heavy weight and us a heavy duty jack and supports as you lower it. On the reinstall I will use a nylon strap with connections, to wrap all the way around the battery frame as it is supplied w/ plastic zip connectors, but it is so heavy and tight to the frame that it is not likely to move.
