My second choice was Balmar, either their SG200 (standard hole mounted style), or their new SG2-0300 bluetooth module, which can be used together or just on the app.
Nice choice, I like the Simarine line of products, I believe they use similar technology to monitor for SOC as the Balmar, again it is proprietary. As you said they have additional sensor capability and have been adding to there product line rapidly.

The SG2-300 is the Bluetooth Gateway for the SG200 kit. One of the interesting things is when gateway app is active the standard Balmar display is inactive.

Very interesting, I hadn't caught that. Though if I had decided on Balmar's Bluetooth Gateway I was thinking of using a cheap tablet as a display, as I find that the SG200 display is a bit small for my eyesight.

I also like the idea of surface mounting, in my mind it's more future-proof than cutting a hole that fits a specific monitor, in case I want to change things in the future.
