Battery Mount In-front or above the Rear Axle

Hi Everyone,
I tried the search and didn't find what I was looking for. This will be for a 2013 E350 RB. It has a dropped floor for my wheelchair. The floor sits on the frame rails. It has a 30 gallon after axle fuel tank making that not an option. I don't want to mount the house batteries on the passenger side frame rail because the batteries will hang lower than I would like. The two options I’m looking at are: 1) directly above the rear axle or 2) in front of the rear axle. I plan to mount the 2 batteries on their side to reduce their height. Has anyone tried to mount batteries in these locations? Are there any reasons why they shouldn’t be mounted there? I know that they will be a pain to access but that doesn’t bother me. Any advice and pictures would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Darryl

I'd sure want to carefully measure the bump travel of the rear axle before locating it there. And figure out how much the bump stop might compress too. Otherwise, why not?

That's what I was thinking. As long as there is enough space to not interfere then it could be nice and out of the way. Does anyone know what the maximum height the rear diff will travel? Does the pumkin pass the bottom of the frame rails at the bottom of the arch?
Cheers
Darryl

Almost forgot, this is on a 2013 E350 with a 6" lift and 3" body lift.

Most certainly. I've had my axle on the bumpstops, which would put the diff just about mid-rail at the arch. Maybe higher?

You could also mount AGMs on their side outside the frame rails, either side. They won't hang as low that way. There are some pics around here somewhere of a set up like that.
