I know it's not the solution your looking for, but I wonder why you don't want to run an inverter while driving. A small sine wave inverter can be had pretty inexpensively and will run any electronics you care to. And with the motor running, you won't ever know it's even on. We have a small tv with multiple inputs and a 400 watt inverter that runs all our electronics, and we have quite a collection of things needing charging on a daily basis.
