Built in Ford GPS locator?

Does anyone know if newer vans have a factory GPS locator that is inaccessible to owners but used when necessary by Ford?

Are you getting paranoid? Do you think they are coming to get you?

I doubt it. If they did, it would probably only be on the 09s that have nav systems. Otherwise, they would advertise the features of the GPS and charge us for them.

There's a number of good reasons to know one way or another.

Ford could take issue with the places we go in these vans when there is a warranty item involved.

Your insurance policy might limit international liabilities.

And wouldn't you be uncomfortable if your van was traceable without you knowing?

While your insurance may not cover you in Mexico or other places, Ford can't do anything to your warranty for driving where you want.

And, no it wouldn't bother me to be tracked. In fact, it would be real handy if it ever were stolen. Some people pay for that service - LoJack, and even the police can't track a vehicle until after a crime has been commited.

If you were ultimately concerned about gps tracking you could always get one of these:

but that would also keep your personal gps from getting a signal.

Jeep voids the warranty (or did for awhile) for taking the vehicle off road. As usual some people have more problems than others with this. I knew about this beforehand and the one warranty service I had on my Jeep I noted they grilled me about whether I'd taken it offroad before the repair.

So much for "Trail Rated". Wonder why they don't mention that in their commercials?

Maybe off topic but if you do some basic off road upgrades like lifting it cause Jeep to hassle you about it? I have read about a turn key vehicle that still holds the Jeep warrantee but not off road??? Unreal. Sure doesn't make me want to look at a new vehicle if that's the case.

engine
transmission
clutch
transfer case

hood
soft top
front axle
suspension
shocks
tires
wheels
seats
roll cage
bumpers
steering wheel
radio/speakers

Do you thing Ford will warranty my '69 Bronco?

My personal experience was at 7K something and the only thing I'd changed was the tires as they got slashed at 500 miles. A screw fell out of the rotator cap and it died going up to Kokomo (a 4 lane divided highway). They tried to accuse me of going offroad, probably because of the JPFrog Offroaders sticker so I showed them pics of my XJ.

It was a big stink a few years ago- imitating a fraction of what occured in any Jeep commercial would void your warranty. I knew people who had radios go out an it wasn't covered because they'd been on a two track hunting. I don't know what their current stance is, I stopped paying attention.

Herb, ah, are you sure that's the same Bronco anymore? I didn't see frame in there so I guess it might be...
