Jage,

I see your setup in a couple of your pics,.....

But would love to see some closeups if you can get them.

That looks like what I want to do.

Thanks,

Sorry about the terets double post above. Westys have a roof vent and it works great. However, its in the filberglass pop top. I could see putting a good one up there in the PH of a SMB. I suspect what is left of our factory roofs with the large PH installed is pretty well needed for structural intregity. Pretty compromised as it is I think, so I (meaning me, not necessarily anyone else) would not attempt anything to further diminish the intergity that's left. There's my unsolicitied advice for the the day. Disclaimer: I'm not an automotive engineer nor do I sleep in Holiday Inn Expresses anymore now that I have a SMB.

My comments were about the CB antenna that Jage has mounted on the opposite fender (drivers side) from the factory radio antenna. That is what I want to spec for our SMB, and want to see/hear more details.

Muchas Gracias Jage.

That looks like exactly what I want.

I recognize that I will lose some signal distance with a lower antenna. Have you used your enough to know how significant it is?

That's the perfect mount Jage. Wish mine was like that. Mine makes a heck of a noise when I pull into my shop even though it has a 10' door (4' whip on my roof). Can talk with Mars, but not worth the hassles.

I seem to have pretty good range, enough on the highways to talk to truckers (I'd guess about 5 miles) and in DV I talked to cellularSteve when he was about an hour away across a valley by going back over a small ridge to transmit... I have a cheapie Uniden powering the whole thing.

I don't notice anything better or worse than my other vehicles, although if I had my druthers I might put a 20' military whip on the rear bumper.

Hmmmmm....Maybe thats what I need.... dual military whips on the back bumper tied down to the front bumper.....

Is that what they had in Rat Patrol?
