Re: Delorme vs. National Geo sofware

Bill,

You may want to try the National Geo version. They are on sale for $1.95, Death Valley only, at Sierra Trading Post. They get mixed reviews but the price is right to give them a try.

we have both the DeLorme Stree Maps and Topo..... and they have worked very well. We often run them both and use them together.

Re: Delorme vs. National Geo sofware

Are you talking about Nat Geo Topo State Series? If so, where are you finding it for $79? Its $99 on the N/G website and at REI. I need Arizona and Utah this year. (Anyone want to part with theirs?)

my 2 cents

I use N/G Topo State, Magellan, and Garmin. Sorry I don't have Delorme to compare to, But of the ones I have, they all have their good and bad sides. I'm not taken with any of them. I do use N/G the most but I dislike the user interface. It also runs much better on a PC than it does on a Mac. (I think the programmers kind of phoned it in when they ported it over to the Mac.) I think it has the best content of the three that I have. Easy to make small hard copies. (Kind of mini-quad maps.) N/G does have decent support. Magellan's software was unfinished when they released it, then had to recall the disks. Then later they abandoned me when I cracked my disk. Told me I have to buy the program again. (Yeah right!)

What I am waiting for is the new Ipad and hoping that SpatialMinds will release a Mac App version of Overland Navigator for it.

DeLorme Street Maps and Topo for me as well. They updated the Topo this year with Street Directions and more. I will be updating on all three of my traveling computers.
