if he isnt getting a light it shouldnt be the alt.

You should get a scan gauge and look at what yor voltages are afte start up and see if you get up to 13 volts without dive bombimg down.

So shop said both interstate batteries totally shot (only 2 years old) getting credit since under warranty. One bad terminal connection. Due to batteries being bad it roached the alternator so installing a heavy duty motorcraft.

Shop is saying this is a 5 hrs job... Haven't been able to check book on what they state but seem high for install hours. Anyone know what it is by chance.

i would take the batteries and alternator to the auto parts store and get them load tested myself to be honest. It doesnt make sense to me that both the batteries and altrrnator wpuld be shot but yet you had no battery light turn on.

If the alternator is shot you should get a DC Power alternator. I went with a 270xp.

motorcraft is 200amp 14.5 output, DC is 185amp at 14.8 so very close with a .3 difference in output voltage. Plus I get a 3 year 36k warranty with it.

Batteries were toast for sure and I talked with interstate since the are right next door to me…

If I wasn't moving my business to a new location and didn't need my van by tomorrow to help with the move I probably would have taken this challenge on myself.

Thanks for all the help and input.

5 hours labor is about right, maybe a little high. It probably took me 7 hours to do mine, but I was clueless on the procedure. I could probably do it easily in 5 now, knowing the tricks.
