Re: Electrical guru please!

you're good to go. Float is what it is, anything above 12.8. The float charge will take quite a bit of time to trickle off depending what is on in the van but 12.7-8 by morning while the batteries are not supplying anything is normal and good. After several years the static charge will be lower and will drop to the 50% range (12.2v) faster. It will be time then to think about new batteries. AGM batteries will sit on a shelf for a month at 12.8 which is considered a new fully charged battery.

Re: Electrical guru please!

When I plug my SMB in with stock plug provided, it seems to trip circuit breaker on the outlet?

What would cause this?

It is an outdoor plug with built in breaker.

Re: Electrical guru please!

so the issue is my GFI trips when I now plug in my SMB using stock cord?

I tried to plug a hair dryer in same GFI and it did not trip.

I left cord out the past week and it did get wet. I am letting sit overnight near heater and will try again.

Any other thoughts or tests?

thanks,

carl

The GFI is doing it.it's seeing a fault when hooked to your van wiring and treating it like a a
Hair dryer dropped in the bathtub
Plug your cord in a non GFI plug and it should be fine.

Re: Electrical guru please!

Curious if my cord being outside for the week, maybe wet, could be the issue?

If you were going to plug in (for me mostly during winter months), what would be ideal set up if plugging into an outdoor socket? My only 2 are gfi outdoors. considering having an electrician come out and do something specifically for the SMB.

what would be ideal?

Re: Electrical guru please!

Yeah, depending on what make inverter you have you'll have to use a specific proceedure when plugging in. The Triplite inverters have problems with GFI's but there is a post where someone found a solution. I'll see if I can (or another member can) find it.

[edit] here ya go:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2003

I have a Prosine 2000 that does not have that problem, but I still ran a circuit from my house panel to a standard RV pedestal. Even though our vans are 110 only, I ran 220 with a 50A but also have a 30A 110 plus 2 110 outlets off a 20A
